Stolen Imagery used to create OnlyFans Accounts. Be Careful!

Hidden Camera

We receive a few DMCA notices every week. Sometimes they come from companies that are trying to protect a client’s images and accidentally hit us with friendly fire. We are not stealing images. We hotlink only public domain or properly licensed images, so everything is above board. Still, some image protection firms file bulk DMCA notices that catch any site publishing a given source, not just the bad actors.

We have also experienced a DMCA attack in which a rival targeted our top-ranking pages. Pretty poor form. We contacted them, explained why that path was better avoided (mutually ensure destruction), and they backed off.

This week brought two especially troubling cases. In both cases, material obtained without consent was used to create OnlyFans accounts in the victim’s name.

Situation One: Images and video from a stolen laptop

In this case, the “model” was not a model at all. She was a wife who had shared some private, risqué photos and vidéos with her husband. These were never intended for public viewing, but her laptop was stolen, and they escaped into the wild.  She hoped whoever stole her laptop would flash it and sell it.  She was not that lucky.

First, the scammer threatened to send the files to her family and friends and managed to extort a lot of money. They kept promising to delete everything if she would just pay a bit more.

When she stopped paying, the thief created an OnlyFans account using those files. They even used her real name.

Why do that? Because they also had her contacts. The scammer then emailed people while pretending to be an anonymous tipster. The messages asked if they had seen “Mrs X’s” OnlyFans account and encouraged them to sign up to view it, with lines like “Don’t tell anyone or the images will be taken down.”

Most recipients did not realise the images were stolen. They thought they were quietly viewing a friend or colleague’s secret account. Weeks pculed before someone finally asked her whether she knew about it, after noticing that the person chatting was clearly not her.  She was mortified and sent us a DMCA notice and her story.

It was a horrible situation. We removed all mention of the account from our directory right away.

Situation Two: Material from hidden cameras and DVRs

Nombreux OnlyFans performers shoot their own content. Others book professionals. You might expect using a studio would come with a low risk of digital material misuse – but scammers are everywhere. A polished website and staged reviews can hide evil intent.

In this case, the model did her homework. She called references who praised the price and quality. She ensured all files were copied only to her device, deleted from the camera card, and even reformatted the card.

What she did not know: the photographer had hidden cameras in the changing area and studio, and he kept a separate set of recordings. He later used AI to replace her face and voice, making it appear like a totally different model. She discovered what was happening by chance months later,  when a fan mentioned they were following a performer with nearly identical material.

Two things were likely happening:

  1. The main cameras were saving to a separate destination over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, so clearing the card did not remove the originals.

  2. Additional hidden cameras captured her while she changed and prepped, and also from angles during the shoot from hidden vantage points.

We, of course, removed that account from our directory.

The model has since let us know she has gone high tech, taking a wireless camera scanner and a separate device on every shoot to ensure nothing is transmitted digitally via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi that should not be, and to locate devices where they do not belong. I had no idea such devices existed for the consumer market. I culumed they would be super expensive devices for the James Bond people of the world… but they are, in fact, pretty affordable, especially when considering the revenue OnlyFans models can make, and wish to protect.

Protect yourself out there people; not everyone has your best interests at heart.
